A weekend workshop with Morit Heitzler
June 25-26th 2022, Ballydehob, Cork, Ireland.
Working with traumatised clients can be challenging and at times overwhelming. Often therapists are familiar with some of theories that underpin trauma and its manifestation but feel under-resourced when it comes to the actual work that needs to be done in order to enable the traumatised system to undo layers of defences and patterns of internal and external relating.
Where do we start? What would be re-traumatising? How do we know when to stop a client re-telling their trauma story and when to encourage it? What do we do when we feel overwhelmed, depleted or confused?
At this practical and clinically oriented workshop which would be relevant for all practitioners working with Trauma, Morit will draw on her years of experience as Body-Psychotherapist and will help participant to deepen their understanding of somatic manifestation of traumatic wounds. The role of the body in trauma therapy is invaluable, especially when clients’ reflective capacities are limited, as language and other cognitive functions are impaired by unconscious or unspoken trauma.
The workshop is designed as an integration of teaching and experiential work, to help deepen participants understanding and confidence in using the tools and techniques as well as their own somatic resonance when working in the traumatises filed.
The workshop will help you
1. to understand the neuroscientific and body-mind basis for PTSD and trauma symptoms (the function of the brain during and after trauma).
2. to gain deeper understanding of the psychological and psychosomatic impact and long-term effects of trauma;
3. to increase awareness of the manifestations of trauma-based relational patterns in the therapy room and their implications for the therapist and the clinical process;
4. to provide practical and helpful interventions to support your engagement with clients who have experienced trauma.
This workshop builds on well-founded, research-based theories and aims to support therapists by expanding their understanding and providing them with practical tools and techniques as well as a shared language to address challenges they are facing in their clinical work.
CPD certificate ( 12 hours) will be provided.
